This is a superb pair of two armed antique French gilded metal candle wall sconces in the Empire style and dating from about 1900. They would certainly add flickering candlelit atmosphere to a château chic interior.

Each sconce has an elaborate back plate with a fruit and urn crest. Beneath the crest are faux ribbon tie detail and a laurel leaf swag.  Acanthus leaves scroll down the back plate encompassing a double handled urn and end in a finial - just gorgeous!

The two arms branch out from the back plate. They too have acanthus leaf scrolls. The candle cups and bobeche have very fine decorative detail.

There is a loop on the back of each sconce for hanging on a wall.

The sconces are very substantial and sturdy. The gilding has mellowed to a lovely old gold hue.

Each sconce measures  :- 30 cm (12 inches) high x 25.5 cm (10 inches) wide x 8 cm (3.1 inches) deep.
