B447 - SOLDThis is a gorgeous antique French enamelled pail with a lid and handle dating from the early 1900's. It is a very decorative and atmospheric piece and would add an authentic shabby chic touch to any vintage cuisine. The edges of the pail and the lid are in a divine shade of duck egg blue. This fades out to a lighter hue where there are glorious sprays of deep pink roses and fresh green foliage. The lid fits on the pail snugly. At some stage over the years the inside of the pail and the underside of the lid have been painted a creamy white. The enamel of the exterior has distressed in places to pleasing effect and all remains sturdy. The metal carrying handle of the pail is also sturdy and it has a lovely wooden grip. The pail measures 32 cm (12.5 inches) high with the lid on and the handle down and 24.5 cm (9.5 inches) in diameter across the bottom. The pail is as useful as it is decorative. It would make a lovely bread bin and would be superb for a little kindling next to a wood burner. It can be seen in our shop in Frome, Somerset.
