B466 - SOLDThis is a superb antique French kitchen towel rack / accroche torchon in the Art Nouveau style and dating from about 1900. Stamped into the metal is a design of a handsome hunting dog with a waterfowl in his mouth. He is standing among the water lilies which are depicted in true Art Nouveau style. Beneath him are 4 domes stamped with the words - 'VERRES' (glasses), 'ASSIETTES' (plates), 'COUTREAUX' (knives) and 'ESSUIE MAINS' (hand towel). Beneath each of these is the corresponding hook. The rack is made of zinc and it would look equally superb in an ultra modern or vintage cuisine. It has some areas of distressing comensurate with it's age which add charm to this lovely old rack. The rack has 4 holes for attaching to a wall or cupboard. It measures :- W 39 cm (15.25 inches) x H 14 cm (5.5 inches). Another divine antique French find from la Belle Étoffe!
