This is a superb antique French photo album in the Art Nouveau style and dating around 1900. It is packed full of family photos oozing history and providing a fabulous insight in to life and fashions of the time.

The album is covered in a divine red velvet which has worn to perfection with the passage of time. The front cover of the album is adorned with ormolu appliqués. A  gorgeous lily and leaf motif forms the centrepiece and each of the corners has a similar, smaller motif. The detail to the casting of the ormolu is exquisite.

Inside the album there are 12 cardboard pages to take the photographs. Some will take one larger photograph and some will take two smaller ones. Each of the photograph windows has a delicate leaf and tendril border also in the Art Nouveau style.

There are 34 photographs within the album. All are posed portraits and some have notes on the back and make interesting reading.

The album is in good antique condition with no pages falling out. The closure clasp to the album has long gone but is not really missed.

The album measures :- 22 cm (8.5 inches) high x 16.5 cm (6.5 inches) wide x 6 cm (2.3 inches) deep.

An interesting and decorative piece of sentimental history and another divine antique French find from La Belle Étoffe.
