B1395 - SOLDThis is the most fabulous pair of antique French Cornely lace curtains dating from the 1800's. They are in exceptional condition, are long and wide and would be the perfect window or bed dressing in a château chic boudoir . The textile is a very fine cotton muslin and is absolutely covered in an exquisite floral design with vignettes and tendrils worked in fine chain stitch - absolutely gorgeous! Each curtain is scalloped to it's meeting edge and the bottom where there is further extensive embroidery. The curtains are a lovely snowy white and are in exceptional antique condition. We have searched and found a few very minor age characteristics on the left hand curtain. There are a few rust specks at the very top, one faint mark less than 1cm (about a third of an inch) in diameter in the middle with a few similar tiny specks below it. There is a little fatigue to the muslin in one of the flowers at the bottom (please see photos) and 2 pin holes scattered across the curtain. These are very minor and certainly do not draw the eye or detract from the splendour of these huge antique lace curtains. Considering the delicacy of the textile and it's age it is amazing that the curtains have survived the years in such wonderful condition. Each curtain measures :- 300 cm (9 ft 10 inches) long x 210 cm cm (6 ft 10.75 inches) wide. A divine frothy pair of French Cornely lace curtains to add an authentic château chic finishing touch and another gorgeous antique French textile find from La Belle Étoffe. Please note that the clips & tie backs we have used to display the curtain are not included. Please hover cursor over picture for magnified detail and click on picture for enlarged photo. SOLD
