B1398 - SOLDThis is the most fabulous antique French Cornely lace curtain dating from the 1800's. It is in exceptional condition, is very long and would be divine incorporated into any number of interior projects. The textile is a very fine cotton muslin and is absolutely covered in an exquisite floral design with vignettes and tendrils worked in fine chain stitch. The curtain is scalloped to the right hand edge and the bottom and within this is a sublime embroidered vase of flowers border. The colour of the curtain is a gorgeous palest of pale dove grey. It is in exceptional antique condition but not surprisingly, considering the delicacy of the textile and it's age, there is a scattering of tiny darns across the curtain (please see photos). The darns have been meticulously executed and are an art form in themselves! They in no way draw the eye from the splendour of this gorgeous antique lace curtain. There is a header tape sewn on the back of the curtain to take hooks. The curtain measures :- 310 cm (10 ft 2 inches) long x 155 cm (5 ft 1 inch) wide. A divine frothy French Cornely lace curtain to add an authentic château chic finishing touch and another gorgeous antique French textile find from La Belle Étoffe. Please note that the clips & tie back we have used to display the curtain are not included. Please hover cursor over picture for magnified detail and click on picture for enlarged photo. SOLD
