This is a gorgeous antique French leather glove / jewellery box dating from the Napoleon III era C 1860.

The leather is in a rich chestnut hue and is textured. The lid has a fabulous knotted handle.

The lid of the box lifts up to reveal a sumptuous padded and buttoned interior in a gorgeous electric blue coloured silk. The silk is in amazing antique condition with no wear, just a little dust from the passage of time.

The box has a strong hinges and sits on four little studs. It has a cute escutcheon with a working lock and it's original pretty little key.

The box is sturdy and is in good antique condition. It has a little scuffing to the leather but could be polished to hide this. The leather on the handle has worn to show the cord beneath but all is stable.

The box measures :- 29 cm (11.4 inches) wide x 10 cm (4 inches) deep x 8 cm (3.1 inches) high not including the handle.
