B1762 - SOLDThis is an impressive antique French tapestry château curtain dating from the 19th Century. It is very long and and oozes faded grandeur. It would add an authentic 'always been there' finishing touch to a period home and certainly help to keep the draughts out. The textile is a cotton tapestry weave of classic floral design with peonies and leaves in subtle shades of pink and green on a beige background. The tapestry textile is in good sound condition with no wear. The top and bottom are hemmed and the sides are formed by the selvedge of the textile. The curtain is not lined. We have left it as we found it. It has not been dry cleaned. There are some very subtle marks which do not draw the eye and blend into the design. At the bottom of the curtain is a pink water mark and at the bottom right hand corner the selvedge has been caught in the hem. These characteristics could be addressed or the curtain could just be hung as it is in a period home where the characteristics it has acquired over the last 100 + years will be celebrated. The curtain measures:- 280 cm (9 ft 2.25 inches) long x 124 cm (4 ft 0.75 inches) wide. An impressive antique French curtain to add an authentic château chic statement and another superb period French textile find from La Belle Étoffe. N.B. Any curtain accessories we have used to display the curtains are not included unless otherwise stated. Please hover cursor over picture for magnified detail and click on picture for enlarged photo.
