B1955 - SOLDThis is a spectacular pair of antique French gilded metal curtain pole holders in the Empire style and dating from the 1800's. They are large and sturdy and suitable for supporting a substantial pair of château curtains. We also have another pair of these (B1954), which are virtually identical to these, with one or two subtle differences, listed in our other items. The fascia of each holder has acanthus and laurel leaf detail. Each holder has a ring to take the pole. The rings have their original bolts (one with the stop missing) to hold the pole in place. The bolts are a little rusty but they work perfectly. The back plates of the holders each have a fitting for hanging on a hook and a screw hole for fixing to a wall. The gilding on the metal has mellowed over the years to a lovely antique hue. Each pole holder measures :- H 26.5 cm (10.4 inches) x W 5.5 cm (2.16 inches) x D 21 cm (8.26 inches). The inside diameter of the ring is 5 cm (1.96 inches). A spectacular pair of curtain pole holders to add a château chic statement and another divine antique French find from La Belle Étoffe! N.B. We have photographed this pair with B1954. Please hover cursor over picture for magnified detail and click on picture for enlarged photo.
