B2126 - SOLDThis is a superb pair of long antique French tapestry château curtains dating from the early 1900's. They have that 'always been there' look and would certainly add an authentic château chic finishing touch to a room. We also have a single curtain, B2127, which matches this pair, listed in our other items. The curtains are made in a woven cotton tapestry. The tapestry has a floral design with red and ochre roses on a dark champagne background. The leading edges of the curtains are sewn with a passementerie. The tops of the curtains are sewn with wooden rings. The bottoms are hemmed. The curtains are lined and are finished all round. We have left the curtains as we found them. The textile of the leading edges has darkened and faded with the passage of time in a natural way which does not draw the eye. The tapestry is sound with no areas of wear. In our opinion, the curtains are ready to hang in a period home where their characteristics of age will be celebrated. They have not been dry cleaned. Each curtain measures :- 98 cm (3 ft 2.5 inches) wide. The right hand curtain is a little shorter than the left hand curtain. They measure :- 235 cm (7 ft 8.5 inches) and 236.5 cm (7 ft 9.1 inches) long respectively. This is a superb pair of antique French curtains to add an authentic château chic statement and another divine period French textile find from La Belle Étoffe. N.B. Any accessories we have used to display the curtains are not included unless otherwise stated. Please hover cursor over picture for magnified detail and click on picture for enlarged photo. SOLD
