B1645 - SOLD

This is a gorgeous antique French Cornely lace curtain dating from the 1800's. It is very long and would be divine incorporated into any number of interiors projects.

The textile is a very fine cotton muslin. The curtain has a flower and leaf tendril border and 3 central flower filled urn vignettes all worked in fine chain stitch.  The curtain is scalloped to three sides and the top is gently gathered onto a tape with ties for attaching to a pole.

The curtain had been laundered and is white. Not surprisingly, considering the delicacy of the textile and it's age, the curtain has acquired some characteristics. There are some small areas of wear to the top of the right hand side and a 2 cm (0.75 inch) hole about half way down this side. There is also a scattering of pin prick holes across the curtain and a 1.5 cm (0.75 inch) line of  light wear in the centre. These could all be darned. About 60 cm  (23.5 inches) up from the bottom of the curtain is a 12 cm (4.75 inch) x 6 cm (2.4 inch) muslin patch. None of these characteristics affect the usability or beauty of this lovely antique curtain.

The curtain measures :- 325 cm (10 ft 8 inches) long x 118 cm (3 ft 10.5 inches) wide across the top and 140 cm (4 ft 7 inches) across the bottom.

A divine frothy French Cornely lace curtain to add an authentic château chic finishing touch and another gorgeous antique French textile find from La Belle Étoffe.

Please note that the clips & tie back we have used to display the curtain are not included.
