This is a sublime antique French pillow purse /evening bag dating from the 1920's.

The purse is in the shape of a pillow and is made from brass with an attractive repoussé design. Around the centre of the purse is a copper band to which is attached the hinge and clasp. The hinge and clasp are made from brass in a filigree design and are both in perfect working order.

The lid of the purse opens to reveal a sumptuous purple plush interior.

The purse hangs on a brass chain.

The brass and copper of the purse has mellowed over the years to an antique hue which suits it perfectly. It would however polish to a shiny finish if required.

The purse measures 18 cm (7 inches) wide x 13 cm (5 inches) high x 7.5 cm (3 inches) deep. The apex of the chain when held is 43 cm (17 inches) above the top of the purse.

This is a fabulous antique French evening bag to use or treasure as part of a collection and another divine antique French find from La Belle Étoffe.
