B1757 - SOLD

This is a fabulous antique French repoussé cushion mirror dating from the 1800's. It would certainly add a château chic finishing touch to an interior.

It is in the Rococo style and is very decorative. It has a shell crest with a rose, flowers and scrolls beneath.

The  repoussé work of the frame has been perfectly executed to give us a very decorative piece. The corners are formed by an acanthus leaf scroll and join the inner frame to the outer frame. The outer frame has a gorgeous repoussé rose border. The gilding on the repoussé has a lovely bronze glow.

The central mirror plate is bevelled. This and the mirror plates to the sides of the 'cushion' have some very minor foxing which adds character to this lovely old mirror.

The mirror is in excellent sturdy condition. There is just a tiny piece of repoussé at the bottom of the central mirror which is slightly bent (please see photos) and one or two worm holes. It has 2 loops on the back for hanging.

It measures :- 65 cm (25.5 inches) high x 36 cm (14.2 inches) wide x 4 cm (1.5 inches) deep.

A beautiful mirror for a special niche and another superb brocante find from La Belle Étoffe!
