B1854 - Amazing Antique French Tapestry Chateau Pelmet, Greek / Roman Goddess 19th Century

 This is an amazing antique French château pelmet dating from the 19th Century. It is a feast for the eyes and would make a fabulous statement piece as part of a curtain ensemble or perhaps over a bed.

The pelmet is made in woven tapestry and is of superb quality. There is a central Greek / Roman goddess holding a bird in her hand. To either side of her are scrolls intertwined with flowers and fruit filled urns. The colours are fabulous terracottas, greens and ochre on a beige background.

The bottom of the pelmet has a border and is trimmed with a gorgeous tasseled passementerie.

The pelmet is lined. We have left it as we found it, in very good antique condition. The lining has a few minor marks and there are 4 grey ribbons sewn to it on one end which could easily be unpicked.

The pelmet measures :- W 228 cm cm (7 ft 5.75 inches) x H 52 cm (1 ft 8.5 inches) including the tassels. The tassels are 5.5 cm (2.2 inches) long.
