This is a stunning large vintage Capodimonte porcelain bust of the Virgin  Mary after Donatello.  It is a very decorative piece and would make a superb architectural addition to a religious display.

It is in white porcelain. Mary is very serene. Her head is bowed and her eyes are closed. Her gown is classically medieval and her mantle drapes beautifully around her head. The white of the porcelain adds to the simplicity of the piece.

The back of the bust has the maker's mark and is engraved 'DONATELLO'.

The bust is in good antique condition. There is a little sepia patination to Mary's forehead and a little general patina (please see photos) but nothing to detract from the beauty of this wonderful piece.

Mary measures :- H 25 cm (9.8 inches) x W 24 cm (9.4 inches) x D 13 cm (5.1 inches).
