B1932 - Gorgeous Pair Large Antique French Acanthus Leaf Curtain, Drape Tie / Hold Backs,19th C

This is a gorgeous pair of antique French gilded metal curtain tie / hold backs dating from the 19th Century. They are of good size and would be suitable to hold back a substantial pair of château curtains.

The back plate and the fascia of the hook have a fabulous swirling acanthus leaf design.

The gilding has mellowed to perfection over the years while still retaining golden highlights which catch the light beautifully.

The tie backs have a strap on the reverse of the back plate and can be fixed by hanging them on a hook. There is also a hole in the top of the back plate to take a screw.

They measure :- H 18.5 cm (7.25 inches) x W 6.8 cm (2.6 inches) x D 18 cm (7.1 inches).
