B1942 - Heavenly PAIR Large Rare Antique French Cotton Chateau Curtains / Drapes, 19th C

This is an exceptional pair of large château curtains made in a gorgeous 19th Century printed cotton. They are indeed a rare find as it is hard enough to find a scrap of this fabric let alone a huge pair of curtains in such good antique condition. They would be the perfect finishing touch in a château chic boudoir.

The textile is cotton with a pale cream background. The print is to die for, vignettes of flowers in urns and baskets interspersed with sprigs and little bees - just divine. The flowers are in shades of claret, gold and dusty pink which look superb against the pale cream background.

The curtains are beautifully made with a ruffled flounce to the leading edges and bottom. They are finished all round, they are lined and have a curtain tape at the top.

We have left them as we found them. They have been laundered and are clean but not surprisingly, considering their age they do have some minor characteristics. There are a few pale marks remaining (please see photos) which do not draw the eye and one or two minor repairs. Towards the bottom of the right hand curtain there is a small repair which has been sewn through to the lining and this causes a slight hitch to the drape of the fabric. These characteristics are minor and do not detract from the overall splendour of these beautiful old curtains.

Each curtain measures :- 241 cm (7 ft 10.8 inches) long (including the frill) x 176 cm (5 ft 9.25 inches) wide at the bottom (not including the frill) and 160 cm (5 ft 3 inches) wide at the top.
