B1981 - Divine Long Antique French Cornely Lace, Applique & Embroidered Curtain / Drape

This is a divine long antique French lace curtain / drape dating about 1900. It incorporates Cornely lace, appliqué and embroidery techniques all on one stunningly worked piece.

The textile is a soft tulle in antique white. There is a beautifully worked flower and leaf border which looks superb against the tulle background.

The edges and bottom are scalloped and there is a curtain tape to the top.

The curtain is in good clean antique condition. There are 2 small areas of slight discolouration, one at the top and one on the left hand edge. There are one or two rust specks on the tape at the back. There is one small repair at the bottom (please see photos). None of these minor characteristics of age detract from the beauty of this very old lace curtain.

The curtain measures :- 246 cm (8 ft 0.9 inches) long x 50 cm (1 ft 7.7 inches) wide.
