B1440 - Gorgeous Antique French Copper On Brass Religious Plaque, Repousse Virgin Mary

This gorgeous antique French religious plaque is made in copper and brass and is very decorative. It can be both hung on a wall or stood like a photo. It would have been bought as a souvenir of a visit to Lourdes.

It has a brass background upon which is a repoussé copper image of Mary. She is in profile and has a beautiful crown of roses. Her mantle falls in folds around her shoulders and she holds her hands crossed at her chest.

Both the brass and the copper have a fabulous antique patina. On the back of the plaque is a ring for hanging and a back rest.

The piece is in good antique condition. There is a little disturbance to the brass in the top right hand corner and some scratches in the brass background just above the top left hand corner of the central copper section (please see photos). These are minor characteristics and do not detract from the beauty of the piece.

The plaque measures :- 22 cm (8.6 inches) high x 17.5 cm (6.9 inches) wide.
